Are your current developers too big to care – Or too remote to be bothered? Part 4.
Have you experienced the frustration of spending your time, chasing for information, trying to find out when your project will be finished or if the updated information you sent has even been received by the right person? You are not alone in this, but why put up with it?
We have several customers who approached us recently for help to either finish a project or even start again stating these very reasons. They had either been lost in a huge corporation and feeling that their problems are too minor to deal with or would cost them a fortune to have them escalated to a more senior technician to work on, or the person working on their project was really in a completely different continent and extremely hard to pin down.
In this post we explore the advantage of having a local company with a more liberal policy on design revisions.
We are sure you have heard at least one person say to you “we only allow 2 revisions to our designs as we spend the time to make sure it is great the first time!” which I am sure is their aim but, after many years in the industry, very seldom do designs hit the mark so easily.
This is not down to the designers or builders nor is it due to the person who wants the design. You can be as certain as you like about your target audience, your company slogan and Mission Statement, maybe even the approved Colour Palette.
Then you see the finished version and for no reason that you can define, when presented with this new design be it for a website or a logo, something is just not quite right, and you just do not like it. So, suggestions are made to correct this undefinable issue, basic politeness creeps in as neither side wants to say what they really think for fear of upsetting someone and all the time you are conscious of the looming potential of additional costs should this need to go to more revisions.
Now we are not saying this happens every time, but it does happen more often than you may think. So, we say “why have the additional pressure of limited numbers of revisions?” Is this to force a decision or to allow companies to make a bit more money? Whatever the reasoning, Creatively Yours decided early on to allow unlimited revisions. That is not to say that we do not target hitting the mark the first time, after all, it is in our interest to make you the customer happy and not to spend hours of our designer’s time doing it.
In our next blog of the series we are looking at Design with European Flair, or someone on another continents idea of good design.
